Details:

University Police has received a report of gun shots fired into a private (non-university) residence on Centennial Campus. A resident at North Shore condominiums reported that at 8:15 a.m. this morning an individual, who attended an overnight party at the residence, fired several shots at the home when leaving the area. No one was injured in this incidence. There is no indication of an ongoing threat.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early twenties, 5’09 to 6’ tall, thin to medium build, and short hair with twists. He was wearing a gray hoodie, gray Columbia jacket, black pants with black and gray shoes, and left the scene in a blue SUV.

Anyone with information about the incident or suspect are encouraged to contact University Police at 919-515-3000.

The campus community is always encouraged to take the following steps to keep themselves safe:
– Assailants are more likely to target individuals walking alone, on darkened or unlit paths, or who are distracted by headphones or activities such as texting.
– Walk in groups whenever possible, especially at night.
-Safety Escort Services and public transportation are available as alternatives to walking. Individuals can contact Safety Escort Services at 919-515-3000.
– If you feel unsafe in any situation, trust your instinct and contact University Police immediately to report suspicious activities or crimes on campus by calling 911 or 919-515-3000
