Wolf Alert – Attempted Armed Robbery – Avent Ferry and Varsity Dr.
At approximately 1:40 am on June 27, 2019, University Police were advised that three people walking on the sidewalk along Avent Ferry Rd. near Varsity Drive, were approached by two juveniles that demanded money. One of the juveniles displayed a small pocket knife. The first suspect is described as being a 14-15 years old, light complexioned black male, 5’6” tall, with a short bushy haircut, wearing a multi-colored button down shirt and shorts, and armed with a knife. The second suspect is described as being a 10 year old dark complexioned black male, wearing a blue shirt and shorts, and shorter than 5’-6”. They were last see,n traveling towards centennial campus on BMX style bicycles.
The campus community is always encouraged to take the following steps to keep themselves safe:
– Assailants are more likely to target individuals walking alone, on darkened or unlit paths, or who are distracted by headphones or activities such as texting.
– Walk in groups whenever possible, especially at night.
-Safety Escort Services and public transportation are available as alternatives to walking. Individuals can contact Safety Escort Services at 919-515-3000.
– If you feel unsafe in any situation, trust your instinct and contact University Police immediately to report suspicious activities or crimes on campus by calling 911 or 919-515-3000
