On August 22, 2020 at 7:51 am, the Raleigh Police Department notified the NC State University Police of an armed robbery which had just occurred off campus on Varsity Dr. at Leadership Dr. According to the victim, he was approached by a known suspect who produced a handgun and demanded property. The suspect then struck the victim with the handgun and took the property. The suspect was last seen running from the scene, south on Varsity Dr. toward Avent Ferry Rd. The victim described the suspect as a light complexion black male, approximately 6 ft/130 lbs, early 20’s with short hair, and wearing a grey hoodie.
The campus community is always encouraged to take the following steps to keep themselves safe:
– Assailants are more likely to target individuals walking alone, on darkened or unlit paths, or who are distracted by headphones or activities such as texting.
– Walk in groups whenever possible, especially at night.

– If you feel unsafe in any situation, trust your instinct and contact University Police immediately to report suspicious activities or crimes on campus by calling 911 or 919-515-3000
