Details:

The NC State University Police Department has received multiple reports of vehicles being broken into, bicycles being stolen and at least one vehicle being stolen. The hardest hit areas of campus appear to be ES King Village and Wolf Village Apartments. Raleigh Police have also seen an increase in these crimes around the area which is affecting persons who live off campus, around NC State University.

The campus community is always encouraged to take the following steps to keep their property safe:

Vehicle Break-ins and Vehicle Thefts

– Close and lock vehicle doors, windows and convertible roofs

– Take keys with you when you leave

– Take valuables with you or keep items out of view and/or secured within compartments and the trunk of your vehicle.

Criminals are more likely to commit thefts when:

– Items are left unattended or easily observed within the vehicle.

– Items are left in unsecured vehicles.

Bicycle Thefts

– Secure bicycles with a solid core U-bolt lock

– Secure bicycles to bicycle racks, not signs, trees or railings
– Write down and keep in a safe location the bicycle make, model, type, color, serial number

– Register your bicycle on campus with the NC State University Transportation Department

Please share the information contained in this crime warning with other people on campus who may not have seen it.
